San Buenaventura Mission in Ventura California

San Buenaventura Mission Ventura, California

While out enjoying a beautiful day this past Sunday, my wife and I stumbled upon the Mission of San Buenaventura. The photo above was taken from the view off of Main St.

There is a long and interesting history behind this mission and how over two hundred years this mission has gone through many transformations and caretakers.

Wish we had more time to stay and visit, but I looked them up online and I’ll be sure to come back again.

The Mission is open:

Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Its located at 211 East Main St., Ventura, Ca 93001.

Strawberry festival time in Southern California

California strawberry festivals

It’s strawberry festival time in Southern California!

I purchased a few baskets of strawberries at a local stand, which reminded me of a few cool strawberry festivals coming up in the next two months.

One of the popular ones is the California Strawberry Festival held in Oxnard, California. This year’s event takes place on May 21 and 22, 2011 at the Strawberry Meadows of College Park in Oxnard. I’ve never been to it, but a few family members have and they enjoyed it.

Another one is the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival. Held on May 27-30, 2011 in the City of Garden Grove. This is a big three day event with lots of activities for the family.

By the way, the strawberries were delicious. Three baskets only lasted a day and half in my house, time to go out and get more.
