Huntington Beach fun – kids don’t try this at home!

Home made beach trampoline – kids don’t try this at home!

Yesterday I was out photographing surfers in Huntington Beach and on my way back to the parking lot, I noticed a group of boys burying a large rubber ball in the sand. Half of the ball was exposed and they were using to catapult themselves in the air. Probably not the safest thing to do but it looked like fun.

Each would run up to the ball, step on it and jump in the air doing flips. Yeah, you can see where this is leading. Being the non-professionals that they are, some landed in very dangerous positions. I captured this photo as one of them landed on his upper back. Ouch!

Camera settings: shutter speed 1/1250, f/8 at 100mm focal length. Plus I had the camera set at high-speed continuous shooting, I shot 3 pictures at about a rate of 6 frames per second, hand held of course…oh and no VR lens either. 😉
