Colorful facades at the Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica pier colored buildings

Colored restaurant buildings at the base of the Santa Monica Pier.

Found these very colorful facades at the base of the Santa Monica Pier. Taken around 3:30pm, the sun brightened up the colors nicely. Weather in southern California is always crazy, because we can have an 80 degree day then in 48 hours expect a large storm. It’s interesting to visit the Santa Monica Pier before a storm, it’s always so beautiful!

Best gelato in Orange County – Mangiamo

Mangiamo Gelato Huntington Beach

Mango and other assorted gelato flavors at Mangiamo Gelato Caffe in Huntington Beach.

My wife and I love taking walks on the Huntington Beach pier, and whenever we do we always have some gelato from Mangiamo’s. Seriously, this stuff is good. We normally have the chocolate, but I had a sample of the Mango on the lower left…wow! I’ll be having that next time.

Farmers Market and Art-A-Faire at the HB pier

Farmers Market at the Huntington Beach Pier

Every Friday at the Huntington Beach Pier you can find a Farmers Market plus the Art-A-Faire vendors selling their unique goods at the Pier Plaza. Today was perfect for a walk along the beach, so I picked up a bag of oranges and tangerines at the pier. There’s always something nice to see at the HB pier. ๐Ÿ™‚

Old Sears building on Soto and Olympic in LA

Old Sears building on Soto in LA

Old Sears building on Soto & Olympic in East Los Angeles

Most people pass this building everyday on their way to work and forget it’s history. Built in 1927 for their mail order department, it stands tall as a gateway into East Los Angeles. Sears used it until 1992, when it was sold and now sits vacant (although there’s still a Sears on the ground floor). Some locals say it’s haunted, but what old building isn’t! ๐Ÿ˜‰
