Santa Monica Rodman Gun cannon on Ocean Ave
19th Century Rodman Gun cannon on Ocean Ave in Santa Monica.
You don’t always have the opportunity to shoot a 19th Century cannon, but today was my lucky day. This is actually called a Rodman Gun, and it is an 8 inch bore. In its day it could fire a 65lb. shot to a maximum distance of over 3800 yards. This particular gun is located on Ocean Blvd. just north of the Pier, right across from The Georgian Hotel.
