Snow Covered Mountains Viewed from the Huntington Beach Pier

Snow capped mountains seen from the Huntington Beach Pier

Every year around this time, the snow capped mountains of Los Angeles can be seen throughout Southern California, one cool place to view them is from the end of the Huntington Beach Pier! It’s a beautiful site and often seen on a clear day after a rain storm. A group of photographers are often seen early in the morning, since that is the best time to photograph this scene.

And its very easy to capture an image like this, sure it helps to have a professional kit of camera gear, but you can also use your old point and shoot camera with a zoom.

Just head out to the tip of the Pier in Huntington Beach and look back at the mountains. I took this particular photo with a telephoto lens, which compresses the background with the foreground and gives it that beautiful view. Also nice are the surfers (this is the north side of the HB Pier) enjoying the day in the water. It completes the photo very well.

The exact coordinates to view them are 33.653271, -118.006179 or here 33.654191, -118.005256 but really its viewable from anywhere on the pier looking north.

I believe that’s the Angeles National Forest and Mt Baldy. Sometimes a trip to the beach is more than just sand and surf, this time I was rewarded with a memorable view. Another great unique spot in Huntington Beach to see the snow covered mountains is the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. Take a look at the article I wrote about the wooden bridge at Bolsa Chica wetlands for the exact location. Plus you’ll get to see my photo sessions with Emily Probst and Megan Felix. Don’t forget to see my other photos from the HP Pier.
